4 In 10 Sport Fans Admit They Are Superstitious

It has been found that almost a quarter of sports fans kiss the emblem of their favorite team before an event, and more than a fifth won't wash their lucky clothing.

Sportspeople can be extremely superstitious, from drinking questionable fluids to performing bizarre pre-game rituals.

Four out of ten sports fans admitted to being "superstitious" - wearing lucky socks at home, or sitting in a favorite seat in the stadium during crucial games.

Researchers found that 25% of people who watch sport will perform unusual rituals prior to a game to improve their luck.

23% of them sit on the same part of the sofa for every game at home, while 24% kiss the logo of their favorite team or nation while watching.

As a preventive measure against cursing their favorite team, 22% refuse to watch any match in the presence of specific people they deem “unlucky ”.
